Bloody Mary - The legendary hangover killer made from vodka & tomato juice

Hearty vodka cocktail with tomato juice, spices and celery – a legendary hangover killer with character.

Ingredients:

  • 5 cl vodka

  • 10 cl tomato juice

  • 1 cl lemon juice

  • 2 dashes Worcester sauce

  • Salt, pepper and Tabasco to taste

  • Celery stalk for decoration

Preparation

The Bloody Mary is not a drink for those in a hurry – it’s a ritual.
Vodka, tomato juice and lemon juice are combined in a tall glass. Then add Worcester sauce, Tabasco, salt and pepper – and now it’s time to stir gently, don’t shake!
The perfect Bloody Mary is thick, spicy and slightly tangy.

Served with a celery stick, it becomes a small work of art.
Ideal as a brunch companion or – quite honestly – as a morning lifesaver after a long night.

Recipe story

Few drinks have as many myths surrounding their creation as the Bloody Mary.
The most likely story takes us back to Paris in the 1920s. There, a bartender named Fernand Petiot worked in Harry’s New York Bar – the meeting place for American expats and artists.
He mixed vodka with tomato juice and a few spices and called it the “Bucket of Blood”. The name later became a little more elegant – inspired by Queen Mary I of England, who was known as Bloody Mary because of her bloody religious wars.
